WRITE 21: October 24-27, 2024 Early bird TICKETS on sale now!

Write Doe Bay is an intimate Pacific Northwest artists' retreat and multi-workshop event held at beautiful Doe Bay Resort on Orcas Island in Washington State. We host award-winning artists of genres ranging from poetry, memoir, fiction, screenplay, songwriting, and more. We welcome participants at any stage of their creative path including those who are ready to take their very first steps.

Write Doe Bay programming starts Thursday at 5:00 pm with a soup soiree and opening circle.

Friday and Saturday are full workshop days with renowned teaching artists (two workshops/day and additional activities, including an Open Mic and a special concert in Doe Bay’s yoga studio). We have optional sunrise activities like hiking and/or pilates, and evening meditation and sound healing. Our chef keeps us nourished while Doe Bay keeps us grounded.

The retreat ends Sunday at 11am, after goodbyes and a shared ceremony at the shore at Doe Bay. This is enough time to catch the first afternoon ferry to Anacortes.

Participants can take advantage of special deals at Doe Bay Resort & Retreat offered exclusively to Write participants, including 25% off and a extra day free. Many choose to add an extra day both before and after the workshop to make the most of their time on Orcas Island with solo writing and exploring.

At Write, beginners and seasoned writers will transcend genre to get to the heart of storytelling. The retreat brings together accomplished writers and artists to inspire, guide and offer the tools to unlock the work you know is waiting. Getting to Orcas Island may feel like you are travelling to the end of the earth. You may take a boat, plane, train and automobile to get here — and all in one day. The journey to the upper left corner of the USA is part of the experience, it’s true. Also: the weekend will be intense. It will challenge you. You won’t have heaps of time for independent project work, but you will make friends who feel like family and learn from multidisciplinary artists and your peers alike. Our intimate setting and low participant-to-instructor ratio means you’ll have the tools to go home and do the work you need to do.

Are you ready? Welcome to Write. We can’t wait to meet you and create with you.
